An AI video enhancer rebuilds a soft or compressed clip and writes it back at a higher resolution. On Aihangsoft it upscales to 720p, 1080p, 2K or 4K, with optional noise reduction, sharpening and a frame rate change. It is a Pro tool, so the video is uploaded to Volcengine AI MediaKit for processing.
The limits matter as much as the feature list. A run accepts a file of up to 200 MB and 5 minutes, the charge is based on the output length, and a 1080p minute costs about 67 credits. A few settings decide the amount of change, and the model rebuilds detail rather than recovering it, so a badly blurred clip will not turn crisp. The rest of this page covers what the enhancer fixes, what each setting costs, and where it stops working.
A soft clip is missing information, and no model can put back the exact pixels a camera never captured. What an enhancer can do is make compressed, noisy or low resolution footage read more cleanly, and make it hold up at a larger size. Before you upload, two things are worth understanding: where your file goes, and what each run costs.
AI Video Enhancer
Upscale a clip to 720p, 1080p, 2K or 4K with AI super resolution, denoising and an optional frame rate change. A Pro Cloud AI tool, so your video is uploaded for processing.
What AI video enhancement actually does
A video enhancer is a chain of algorithms rather than a single filter, and it helps to separate them, because they succeed and fail in different ways.
| Job | What it fixes | Where it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Super resolution | Low pixel dimensions | A 480p or 720p source that has to play on a 1080p or 4K screen |
| Noise reduction | Blocking, grain and colour speckle from heavy compression | Clips pulled from chat apps, social platforms or old uploads |
| Sharpening | Soft edges and mild defocus | Phone footage shot through a window or in poor light |
| Colour and contrast | Flat, washed out or faded colour | Old recordings and footage that was graded badly |
| Frame rate | Choppy motion and a low frame rate | AIGC clips generated at 24 fps |
The first four change how the picture reads. The frame rate option is different: it interpolates new frames between the existing ones, which smooths motion rather than adding detail, and it is the setting that doubles the cost of a run.
Rebuilt detail, not recovered detail
The fast tool on Aihangsoft is a lightweight super resolution and enhancement model, not a diffusion generator. That distinction matters. It predicts the most likely edge or texture where detail is missing rather than recovering the original pixels, which is what lets it clean a picture up without inventing a new scene.
It still cannot restore information that was never recorded. A clip that is genuinely out of focus, extremely dark or crushed by repeated re-encoding improves far less than a slightly soft one. Expect a cleaner, steadier picture, not a different one.
This is a Pro tool, and it uploads your video
Aihangsoft has 45 browser tools that process a file on your own device and never transmit it. The AI Video Enhancer is not one of them, and it is also the one Cloud AI tool that is limited to Pro. Both facts are worth stating plainly before you start.
| The 45 browser tools | This AI Video Enhancer | |
|---|---|---|
| Where your file goes | Stays on your device | Uploaded to our server |
| What processes it | Your browser, using Canvas and WebAssembly | Volcengine AI MediaKit, a cloud AI service |
| How long it is kept | Not stored at all | Result deleted 24 hours after processing |
| Account | Never needed | A Pro plan is required |
| Works offline | Yes, after the first load | No |
The reason for the Pro limit is cost. Every run is billed by Volcengine, and a single minute of 1080p output is expensive enough that giving it away on a free daily allowance is not viable. A guest or free account sees the upload area locked and a link to the plans, and nothing is uploaded or charged in that state.
On the privacy side, the result of a Pro run is stored on our server for 24 hours and then deleted automatically. That window is a retention period, not a promise about logs or backups. Apply the rule you would apply to any online converter: do not upload confidential footage, private client work or anything you would not email to a stranger.
What a run costs
The charge is based on the length of the output and on the resolution and frame rate you choose, which is exactly how the cloud service bills the job. The table below gives the cost per minute of output at each setting.
| Output resolution | Credits per minute at 30 fps | Credits per minute at 60 fps |
|---|---|---|
| 720p | about 34 | about 68 |
| 1080p | about 67 | about 134 |
| 2K | about 134 | about 268 |
| 4K | about 267 | about 534 |
Pro includes 1,500 credits a month, so the same allowance buys roughly 44 minutes of 720p video, 22 minutes of 1080p, 11 minutes of 2K or 5 minutes of 4K, all at 30 fps. Doubling the frame rate halves each of those figures, which is why the frame rate choice is a cost decision as much as a quality one.
Two safety nets are worth knowing. The rate is charged on the output length the service actually produces, and credits are only deducted once a result exists. A file that is rejected for length or size, a clip that exceeds the limit on your plan, or a run that fails at the cloud service costs nothing.
The practical reading is to match the resolution to the destination rather than always reaching for the highest. A clip made for a phone screen rarely gains from 4K, and 720p is often enough for a preview or a draft. Reserve 4K for a large screen or a final delivery where the extra size is the point.
How to enhance a video in three steps
- Add your video. Drop an MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM of up to 200 MB. A run can cover up to 5 minutes, and the input has to sit inside 2K. The file is uploaded to our server at this point, so do not send anything you would not want processed in the cloud.
- Choose the output. Pick a target resolution from 720p to 4K, a frame rate of source, 30 or 60, and a bitrate of low, medium or high. The page shows an estimate in credits that updates as you change them, and the server confirms the exact figure when the run starts.
- Enhance and download. Start the run and watch the progress. The fast tool works at about three times real time, so a one minute clip is usually done in about three minutes, and a five minute clip can take around fifteen. Keep the tab open, then preview the MP4 and download it.
Because a run is charged from the output length, trimming first is the cheapest way to work on part of a longer video. Our Video Trimmer can cut a clip down to the five minute ceiling before you spend credits on it.
When it is worth it, and when it is not
Lifting AI generated video
Generating at a lower resolution and enhancing afterwards is cheaper than generating at the top size, which is the workflow the cloud service itself recommends. A clip generated at 480p or 720p can be lifted to 1080p, and the frame rate option smooths output that was made at 24 fps. This is the clearest case for the tool.
Cleaning up old or re-shared clips
Footage that has been downloaded, re-uploaded and re-compressed several times accumulates blocking and colour speckle. Noise reduction and sharpening pull some of that back, and the result is usually more watchable than the source. The gain is real but bounded, and a clip that was already very poor will stay poor.
Matching a platform spec
Sometimes the goal is simply a file at a predictable size. Setting the resolution to 1080p gives a standard upload, and 4K suits a large screen or a client delivery. Keeping the source frame rate is the cheapest option, and it is the right choice when the platform does not need a change.
When to use something else
If the clip is too long, trim it first. If it is too large to upload, compress it first. If it only needs a smaller file or a different format, the browser based Video Compressor and Video Converter do that locally, for free, without uploading anything. Enhancement is for quality, not for conversion.
What this tool cannot do
These are the limits worth reading before you spend credits on the wrong setting.
- It is Pro only. Guests and free accounts cannot start a run, and the upload area stays locked until you are on a Pro plan.
- It uploads your video. Unlike the 45 browser tools, this one sends the file to our server and to Volcengine AI MediaKit. Do not use it for confidential footage.
- It rebuilds detail rather than recovering it. A genuinely out of focus, very dark or heavily degraded clip improves far less than a slightly soft one.
- There is a 200 MB and 5 minute ceiling, and the input must be inside 2K. A longer video has to be trimmed, and a larger one compressed, before it is accepted.
- It does not change speed, cut, crop, rotate, add subtitles or remove a watermark. Those are separate browser tools, and none of them upload anything.
- It cannot target a specific file size. The bitrate setting nudges the output up or down, but there is no field that says make this exactly 25 MB.
- The output is always MP4 with the audio kept. There is no option to strip the audio or to export another container.
- Processing time scales with length. A five minute clip can take around fifteen minutes, and the tab has to stay open while it runs.
- Results are temporary. The file is kept for 24 hours and then deleted, so save it rather than coming back the next day.
