What AI enhancement actually does
An enhancer does three jobs, and they are worth separating because they succeed or fail in different ways.

Only the first two change how an image reads. Enlargement on its own mostly adds pixels, and a 4x result on a genuinely soft photo can look smooth rather than detailed, so the extra size arrives without the extra information. That is why 2x is the default: it is roughly the point where the new pixels and the rebuilt detail balance out on a normal photo.
Generated detail, not recovered detail
The model is generative. Where detail is missing it predicts a plausible texture rather than finding the original, so a repaired face can look slightly different from the real one, and fine lettering can be reshaped. This is not a defect in the tool, it is how the method works, and it is the reason a photo with a factual purpose should not go through it.

Thirty minutes is a retention window, not a promise about logs, backups or the third-party service behind it. Apply the rule you would apply to any online converter: do not upload passports, ID cards, medical images, contracts, unreleased client work or anything you would not email to a stranger. Holiday photos, product shots and profile pictures are a reasonable trade.

How to enhance a photo in three steps
- Add your image. Drop a PNG, JPG, WebP, TIFF, BMP or HEIC file of up to 10 MB. A guest can add one image per run, a free account three and Pro ten. The file is uploaded to our server at this point.
- Pick a model, a factor, and a detail strategy. Start with Standard at 2x. The detail strategy appears only for Professional and Advanced, so the cheap tier does not offer it. Choose 1x to clean the image up without resizing, or 2x, 3x or 4x to enlarge as well.
- Compare and download. The slider shows the original and the result at the same output size, so you are comparing detail rather than scale. Save the file before you leave, because the result is deleted from the server after 30 minutes.
Re-running with a different model costs another credit like any other run, so it pays to set the options correctly the first time rather than trying all three.
What the three models cost
The three models are not priced equally, and the gap between them is large enough to change how you use the tool.

A free account gets 5 credits per day. That is five Standard runs, and it is not enough for a single Professional run, which costs 6, let alone an Advanced run at 40. A guest who is not signed in gets one free run per day and one image per batch; signing in raises the batch to three images, and Pro raises it to ten.
The practical reading is that Professional and Advanced are paid-credit options. If you are living on the free daily allowance, Standard is the only model you can afford, and the honest advice is to try it first, because on a mildly soft photo it is often enough. Reach for a stronger model when Standard visibly fails, not out of habit, since one Advanced run costs as much as forty Standard runs.
One safety net is worth knowing. The enlargement check runs before the cloud call, so a request rejected for a factor that is too large does not spend a credit. Credits are charged only when a run finishes successfully.
Fidelity first or texture first
The detail strategy is a two-way switch, and it appears when you select Professional or Advanced. Standard does not offer it, so on the cheapest tier you get whatever the model decides.
Fidelity first keeps the detail that is already in the photo. It is the safer choice for faces, products and any image with text, where an invented letter or a changed eye would be obvious. Texture first is the default. It generates richer texture and is aimed at badly compressed or very blurry images, where the alternative is a smooth, plastic look. It can also change small details, which makes it the wrong choice for a photo that has to stay accurate.
A reasonable rule is to leave Texture first on for an image that only needs to look good, and switch to Fidelity first the moment a person, a logo or a line of text has to stay exactly as it was. Neither option is a quality level, and neither is available on Standard, so the choice is really about trust rather than sharpness.
What this tool cannot do
These are the limits worth reading before you spend a credit on the wrong model or upload the wrong file.
- It uploads your photo. Unlike the twenty-eight browser tools on this site, this one sends the file to our server and to Volcengine AI MediaKit. Do not use it for confidential images.
- The free allowance is very small. A guest gets one run per day, and a free account gets 5 credits per day, which is five Standard runs and not one Professional run. Professional and Advanced are effectively paid features.
- It generates detail rather than recovering it. Texture first can change faces, lettering, logos or product details. Photos kept as records, such as IDs, evidence or medical images, should not go through a generative enhancer at all.
- Standard is capped at 6144 px on the long edge. A large input can only be enlarged a little, and an impossible factor is refused. Professional and Advanced allow up to 10240 px.
- The output format is not yours to choose. Standard always writes a PNG, while Professional and Advanced keep the format of the file you uploaded. Either way the enhanced file is usually larger than the original, so compress it separately if size matters.
- Enlargement stops at 4x. There is no 8x option in the interface, and pushing further would add pixels without real detail anyway.
- There is no manual repair. No brush for a missed area and no sharpening slider. You can only change the model, the factor and the strategy, and re-run at the cost of another credit.
- Results are temporary. The server keeps a result for 30 minutes and then deletes it. Save the file, or expect to spend another credit running the same image again.
